The 2026 Opening Day contest wasn't a walk in the park, but yet... it was.. and then some. Both pitching staffs had issues adhering to the established strike zone as both Rangers and Scouts hurlers combined to issue 37 free passes and 10 HBPs, but thankfully the Rangers were able to 'walk' away with the 20-14 victory.
Markus Hall was impressive in his return to amateur baseball and contributed a pair of hits and 3 RBIs in his first game as a Ranger. Rob Pederson's smooth lefty swing was perfect on the day with a 3-for-3 performance and 3 RBIs. Nick Xavier, Kyle Moyer, and Jesse Jones added a pair of RBIs. Jones, Hall, Pederson, and Michael Seebock all doubled.
Rookies Dylan Polk and Kelley Barnes picked up their first career hits. New Rangers leadoff hitter Zach Gomia tied a team record with 4 walks and scored 3 times and stole 3 bags.
The Rangers are now 18-12 all-time on Opening Day.
