About the Xenia Scouts

 

The Xenia Scouts are an adult baseball team based out of Dayton, Ohio, competing in the Dayton Champions Baseball League (DCBL). Established in 2020 by player-manager Ryan MacFarlane, the Scouts have built a history of success during their presence in the mens adult baseball league.

 

History

 

Over the past 6 seasons, the Scouts have been a competitive squad to compete against:

  • Championship Appearance: After debuting in 2020, the Scouts made it to the championship in 2021 coming up just short against the South Dayton Slammers.

  • Debut Game: In the Scouts franchise opener vs the Mad River Machine in 2020, Josh Knox/Ryan MacFarlane/Anthony Ragan homered back-to-back-to-back in the top of the 1st inning to kick off the Scouts franchise with a bang. Not everyday do you experience something of that sort.

  • Milestones: The franchise picked up its 80th regular season win in 2025, marking a team overall record of (99-77-4) in just 6 seasons.

Franchise Legends

 

Ryan MacFarlane — Founder & Former Manager a.k.a Xenia Scouts 'GoAT'🐐
Founder and player-manager whose leadership set the tone for the franchise. A consistent offensive contributor with long service and deep ties to the team’s identity.

Alex Schulke — Xenia Scouts 2-Way Shohei
One of the Scouts most consistent performers both offensively and defensively, earning multiple All-league First Team/All-star selections and becoming the only Scouts player to win MVP.

TJ Henry — Scouts Pitching Legend 
The dominant ace of the Scouts rotation, TJ became one of the team’s all-time pitching leaders in just two short seasons (2020-2021) and a much needed presence on the pitching staff with a coaching mentality.

 

Standouts & Award Winners

 

Alex Schulke — MVP 🏆
Led the league in hits (41) and batting avg(.519) in 2022, capturing MVP honors and hitting into one of the Scouts best offensive seasons yet.

Anthony Ragan — Outfielder/Third Basemen
A valuable All-Star 🌟 and centerpiece to the franchise, Ragan’s leadership, fielding ability, and clutch offense has made him a core part of the Scouts franchise over the past 6 seasons. Ragan leads the way in almost every Scouts franchise record.

Lou Ryan — Scouts Triple King 👑
Consistently recognized as an all-league gold glover in CF, Lou has also brought elite offensive play along with an astounding baserunning ability that has helped the Scouts stay competitive. Top 4 in all-time triples and Top 20 all-time in stolen bases, the center fielder is a force to be reckon with.

Rickey Risden III — 💎 Outfielder & Current Scouts Manager-Player
The 2021 All-star Defensive Player of the Game, has made contributions across multiple seasons, closing in on both 100 career runs scored and 100 career stolen bases. The highlight reel outfielder is known for laying down a bunt or two in his time. 

Josh Cvetkovich — Pitcher & Former Manager
A true reliable presence at the hot corner in recent years plus on the mound, Cvetkovich has provided consistent production and top-tier offense as well.

Jacob Chopiak & Zac Calvert — Pitcher & Catcher
Key core contributors to the Scouts, these two have provided clutch hitting and defensive plays never seen before that have helped fuel the energy behind this young franchise.
